Sit to no more than halfway up, correct.

For the lats... hmmm. How about pullovers and one-arm dumbbell rows?

I'm sure they'd hurt like a SOAB, but I've got no way to do them at home. Any substitute with dumbells?
With the crunches, you recommend sitting 1/2-3/4 up, but not the full way, correct?

The negative IS the way down, correct. Negative also means eccentric, the lowering portion, where you are stretching or extending the muscle under a load.

Give 'em a try, lemme know how bad your lats hurt tomorrow... *evil laugh*

Sonya - I'm so glad you find my writing helpful. Thank you for telling me - you made my day. :)

nine1199, the negative chins are just regular chins, but you "cheat" as much as you need to get to the "up" position, then lower slowly with as little self-assistance from your feet as possible. Set the bar at basically eye level, or a little higher and stand on a stool to get set up. Lower to a full hang, then cheat your way back up again.

I should try to get a vid taken of them - MUCH easier to demo than to explain!

Your site is very motivational.
I'm looking to start something along your basic workout, but would like to do as much as I can with dumbells at home. Can you explain B1 [Negative self-assisted chins]?

Marianne, I keep coming back to your blog. Your articles are a treasure for me, it is a condensed version of all that is out there that I would like to know, but would have to search and select what matters to me, and you have it all in one place. Hope you keep writing forever!
