Mmmmm… carbs…
I’m sitting here, back from the Friday night “Hamstrings and Pho” ritual that has been our custom this last month or so. We found a totally wonderful pho joint on Fraser at about 46th, soup for two, extra meat, and a tip: $20. Expensive restaurants often disappoint, but I’m learning to really value the myriad holes in the wall Vancouver has to offer.
I had a good workout - gradually easing the RDLs up. My last few attempts at 185 were optimistic (and a touch nostalgic), but 135, 155, 155, 165, 165 worked just dandy for 5 rep sets. Followed this with 3×8 front squats with 115 and hyperbench GHRs with a 35 lb plate. Between bench dips with a couple plates on my lap, and then we left for pho.
Now I’m eating French bread with apricot jam. I’m thinking cream of wheat might be next. Oh, and pyrogies …!
Tomorrow: hill repeats in my new, air-conditioned gym downtown. And a hot tub. Maybe a swim …
